Combatting Ai As A Competitor

When the person responsible for hiring a Fractional Marketing Officer talks about how they could Ai to do the work, how do you respond? You cannot show your anger or react strongly, as much as you would like to. The person that remains composed and is ready with a sharp response is the person that gets hired.
We have to admit as Fractional Marketing Officers that there are times when we lose out to Ai. Some people think they can easily use Ai instead of having to hire someone, even if for limited hours as a fractional. How we handle those situations could make or break our business.
One aspect to point out in your proposals, discussions, and negotiations is the value of the human element. It helps if you can “read the room”. Some people will get the message with a direct approach.
“You can go with Ai, but if three of your competitors are also doing that, your work is going to appear the same as others, reducing your chances for success. I can make the difference for you.”
Normally, it helps to take the “We can make the difference” approach and include your team, even if there is not one. At that moment, you need to be an individual. A human being. Another strategy is to be ready with stories about specific problems which have resulted from “unaudited” Ai.
For example, suppose you are doing a proposal or an interview regarding a healthcare position. If the opportunity is there, point out how Ai could be taking its information from an individual diagnosis instead of general practice. Saying something like, “For that matter, you and I could each need the same prescription, but it could be different dosages because of our respective medical backgrounds”.

Making a point like that one does two things. It uses a personal situation they can (hopefully) relate to. More importantly, it puts doubt into their proposed total reliance on Ai, and at the very moment they are relating to what you are telling them.
You can also acknowledge that you “would utilize Ai where appropriate and upon verification of the data it provides”. By doing so, you alert them that they would not have to take the time and effort to verify and would not have the worry about using incorrect or outdated information.
It might be worth doing some research on problems caused by using Ai within the industry or category you specialize in and apply for gigs in. Doing so could make the difference in getting your next gig!
